ORGANIC MANAGEMENT
Please be advised, as required by the Metro Vancouver Ban on organic waste (food and food scraps, coffee grounds, tea bags, flowers/plant trimmings etc) in regular garbage bins, España has a fully operational Green Waste Program as of January 15, 2015.
Please note this is a MANDATORY requirement that must be complied with.
Additional information documents have been attached below including FAQs, the España Green Teams presentation and cost for organic buckets and compostable liners.
DO YOUR PART AND SUPPORT GREEN!!!!
Please note this is a MANDATORY requirement that must be complied with.
- Each unit needs to consider purchasing a plastic Kitchen Catcher to put all the Green Waste into on a daily basis. Along with this, each unit must also purchase organic liners or dump the waste directly from the Kitchen Catcher directly into the Green Totes in the recycling room. In order to make this as easy as possible and ensure consistent adherence to the policy, COMPOSTABLE liners and buckets are available at the Concierge for purchase. These catchers and liners can also be purchased at a local hardware or grocery store, such as Home Depot, Rona, Walmart, and Canadian Tire.
- Absolutely NO plastic grocery or other bags are allowed for your food scraps. ONLY use the COMPOSTABLE liners.
- We will continue to have regular garbage bins for the disposal of non-compostable materials as well as our blue recycling totes for recyclable materials. Green Waste will go into the new green totes.
- Please be reminded that following the approval of a new Rule at this year’s AGM, Owners/residents failing to comply with the Recycling Rules may be subject to a fine of $50.00.
